Facelifted Land Rover Discovery Now In India, And Here Are Five Things You Need To Know

Land Rover India has launched the facelifted Discovery -- its third new launch for July -- at Rs 88.06 lakh. The updated luxury SUV now gets revised styling, improved features, and finally proper six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines that befit a vehicle of its class. 

Here are five things you need to know about the updated luxury SUV:

Design Changes Are Minimal  

The Discovery now gets redesigned LED headlamps with U-shaped LED DRLs. The bumper features new three-slat side vents and a slightly larger air dam for a more aggressive look. Save for the new alloy wheels, the side profile remains unchanged. At the back, Land Rover has provided the SUV with new tail lamps now connected by a gloss black strip and redesigned rear bumpers. 

The R-Dynamic models look a tad sportier, thanks to the blacked-out elements on the outside. 

Technologically Advanced On The Inside

Step inside the facelifted Discovery, and your attention will be drawn to the revised central console now featuring JLR’s new 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system. It’s a connected unit packing functions like over-the-air (OTA) updates and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Then there’s the updated touch-based climate control. 

Other changes include a new steering wheel (borrowed from the Defender) and an updated 12.3-inch digital driver display. The latter will now be capable of displaying maps in a 3D layout. 

That’s not it. Land Rover claims it has redone the second row to make it a more comfortable place. The seats now offer better lateral support, while the longer and thicker cushions are suitable for improved posture and under-thigh support. 

Features On Board 

The Discovery now comes with features such as a PM 2.5 AC filter, four-zone climate control, a Meridian sound system, a wireless phone charger, a new key with touch-based controls, cruise control, and powered front seats. 

Passenger safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, all-around parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Six-cylinder Engines, Finally! 

Apart from the existing 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, new 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines (both with mild-hybrid tech) have made their way into the SUVs variants. The three are paired with an automatic transmission, driving all four wheels.
