All Kawasaki motorcycles will be sold and serviced through Kawasaki India's own dealer network
Close on the heels of it's new bikes launch, Kawasaki motorcycles had entered into an alliance with Bajaj Auto in 2009. The tie-up allowed the Japanese bikemaker to sell and service their bikes through Bajaj's Probiking dealerships which also sells KTM bikes.
Kawasaki India has always focussed on higher capacity bikes with the Ninja 300 being their most affordable offering here. To maintain exclusivity, the company has decided to sell their motorcycles through standalone Kawasaki dealerships. From April 1, 2017, all Kawasaki bikes will be sold and serviced by 'India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd’. Kawasaki currently has standalone dealerships in Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Coimbatore. Kawasaki will be adding a new dealership in Mumbai on the 28th of March with new ones to come in Vijaywada and Rajkot. Kawasaki will continue to assemble their CBU bikes at Bajaj's Akurdi facility.
This move will not affect existing Kawasaki customers as they can avail warranty and service for their bikes from the nearest Kawasaki dealerships.
The co-shared showroom model has worked well for KTM as their motorcycles have been great value-for-money. KTM's rising sales have worked favourably for the Bajaj-KTM tie-up and allowed them to introduce 5 new and updated models in 2017 and sell them through their 300-plus Probiking dealerships across India. Bajaj Auto aims to focus more on this profitable venture.
