The Yamaha MT-03 has undergone a bevy of changes as part of its 2021 update

Yamaha recently updated the MT-03 for sale in Japan. Now, though its chances of coming to India are remote, that doesn’t stop us from drooling over its 2021 avatar!

The 2021 model hasn’t undergone any mechanical changes. It retains the 321cc parallel-twin (also seen in the Yamaha R3), making the same 42PS and 29Nm as before.

The silhouette, too, stays the same, with the hallmark beefy front and angular rear, in keeping with the design philosophy of Yamaha's MT lineup.

The combo of the main projector with the LED ‘eyebrows’ (akin to the MT-15) looks just as menacing here as well...

...especially when seen from afar, where its bulkier stance gives the impression of a scowling beast, ready to pounce!

Now, despite the LCD cluster being nicely laid out, it may seem primitive to today’s TFT-obsessed crowd. Nevertheless, function beats form in the case of the MT-03.

Ultimately, though, Yamaha’s next bike in India will be the FZ-based FZX, with the brand in no mood to bring the 2021 MT-03 to our shores anytime soon. Sigh!
