2017 Hyundai Verna Revealed In Spy Shots

The pictures show several details about the exteriors of the car, such as -- headlamps, wheels and trims among others

2017 Hyundai Verna front spied

A next-gen version of the Hyundai Verna has been spied for the first time in its production guise. The car is probably docked at one of the Hyundai dealerships in China. It was showcased at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show a few weeks ago, but in its concept form. The spied vehicle has ditched the flashy bits, such as the crystal headlamp unit, mesh grille and so on, of the concept Verna, but the body shell remains intact.

Much like any other concept-to-production conversion, the car has been toned down in order to bring down its production cost and make it commuter friendly. The car gets reflector-type headlamp units along with optional projector headlamps in the top-spec trims. The 2017 Verna has also ditched the highly-carved front and rear bumpers the concept had, for a simpler one.

The front grille appears to be a straight lift-off from Audi SUV  -- a single frame grille with headlamps merging into either side. The sides, however, look more like an evolution of the current car (the one available in India) with a similar sloping roofline and shoulder crease. The rear gets a set of sleek taillights, integrated rear spoiler on the boot lid and a beefier bumper -- as compared to the present-day car.

The all-new Verna also gets new alloy wheels, with one set being silver, and the other a diamond cut one. The interiors of the spied car are not visible, courtesy the camouflage. But we are able to see the sunroof. However, it is not given if the sunroof will make it to India. The cabin is expected to be upmarket and better than the current one.

Under the hood, the 2017 Verna could retain the same set of motors offered with the current car, overseas and in India. The current version gets petrol and diesel engines with a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre available in both fuels. The engines might be a bit more refined in this upcoming update.

Speaking of its Indian launch, Hyundai might launch it in the first quarter of 2017 or even before that, if we are lucky.
