- It will lose crucial safety equipment due to semiconductor shortage.
- Standard variants likely to be sold alongside.
A Delhi RTO document has suggested that the Hector and Hector Plus could get the new EX variants without some safety features. Recently, the carmaker introduced the same in the Astor petrol-MT, where it lost some crucial safety kit and is sold alongside the standard variant for a lesser asking price. However, while MG offered the EX version in all of the Astor’s variants; in the Hector and Hector Plus, the RTO document hints it will be limited to just the Sharp trim.
At the moment, here are the prices of the Hector’s Sharp petrol variants for reference:
Variants |
Ex-showroom Price |
Hector Sharp |
Rs 18.5 lakh |
Hector Sharp AT |
Rs 19.48 lakh |
Hector Plus Sharp MT 6-seater |
Rs 19.25 lakh |
Hector Plus Sharp AT 6-seater |
Rs 20.25 lakh |
Like the Astor, the Hector Sharp EX might not get these following features:
-
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
-
Traction control
-
Hill hold control
We suspect these features are being deleted because of the ongoing semiconductor shortage. However, like the Astor, MG should retain the standard variants alongside and that should come handy if you want your SUV to have all of the safety kit.
The MG Hector petrol is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, teamed with either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed DCT or a CVT. This engine comes with mild-hybrid tech (manual only) in the higher end variants. The SUV also gets a 170PS, 2-litre diesel engine as well.
