The Hector now only has an 8-step CVT for an automatic option

  • The 6-speed DCT was paired with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and offered in the Smart and Shine variants.

  • The CVT automatic is offered in the Shine, Smart and Sharp variants, and is priced from Rs 16.2 lakh to Rs 19.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  • The Hector can also be specced with a 2-litre diesel engine, or a 48v mild-hybrid system for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

MG Motor India continues to rejig the Hector SUV, with the latest update seeing the 6-speed DCT automatic variants being discontinued from the SUV’s lineup. This leaves the 8-step CVT as the only automatic option for the SUV which was introduced in February 2021. This axing also applies to the Hector Plus 6-seater SUV.

The DCT gearbox was paired to the 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine right from its launch in 2019, and was offered in the Smart and Sharp variants. It was priced from Rs 17.54 lakh to Rs 19.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Coming to the CVT gearbox that takes its place, it is also limited to the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine but is also offered in the Shine variant aside from the Smart and Sharp variants. The axing of the DCT has also come with a price increment. Here are the current prices:
