Made-in-India Hero Electric To Get A Japanese Twist

The brand’s high-speed e-scooters will use NIDAC motors from February 2023
At the ongoing IEB Autotech 2022 in Tokyo, Hero Electric has announced its partnership with Japanese electric component giant NIDEC Corporation to use the latter’s new hub motors.
Initially, the new motor will be used in Hero Electric’s City Speed range that includes the Photon, Optima CX and the NYX electric scooters. These motors will be manufactured in Neemrana, Rajasthan. The batches with the new motor will start rolling out February 2023 onwards.

Hero Electric has been consistently raking decent sales as compared to its rivals, but is severely hit by supply issues. With this move, Hero Electric intends to end its supply chain issues, and further enhance the quality. Interestingly, NIDEC is also the motor supplier for Ather Energy.
