Hero Electric has quietly launched its new e-scooter, called the Optima CX. This is an improved version of the brand’s popular Optima HX e-scooter.
What's Its Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The Hero Optima CX is priced at Rs 62,190 for the single-battery variant and Rs 77,490 for the dual-battery variant. For reference, the older model carried a price tag of Rs 55,580 and 65,640 for the single and dual-battery variants respectively (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
The Hero Electric e-scooter goes up against the likes of the Bounce Infinity E1, BGauss A2 and the Ampere Magnus.

How Many Variants Are There?
The e-scooter is available in two variants: one with single battery and another is a dual-battery variant.
What's New?
The Hero Electric Optima CX benefits from an improved chassis which is claimed to be 25 percent sturdier, and updated brakes which are claimed to be 30 percent better than the outgoing model.
Furthermore, the EV maker has made changes to the motor to make it 10 percent more efficient and now achieves a claimed top speed of 45kmph (3kmph more than the previous model).

What's Unchanged?
The 550kW BLDC hub motor with a peak output of 1.2kW is the same as the previous model. Thanks to the improved efficiency of this motor, the e-scooter has a claimed range of 140km (dual-battery variant) which is 28km more than the same variant of the previous model, despite using the same 51.2V, 30Ah battery pack.
The suspension and braking components are the same, and Hero Electric has continued with the 12-inch wheel setup too.
Hero Electric hasn’t added any new features to the Optima CX. The e-scooter comes equipped with cruise control, walk assist, reverse, and a negative backlit instrument console. There’s also a USB charging port as part of the standard equipment.
ZigSays
The Hero Electric Optima has been the EV manufacturer’s popular model and launching an improved version of it seems to be a sensible move. Not only has the brand improved the chassis, but even made the motor more efficient and used a new battery pack that is claimed to be safer and has better thermal performance.
Given the recent incidents of EVs catching fire, Hero Electric has started a unique initiative called the ‘Battery Care Month’ wherein the brand’s customers can get their EV’s battery checked free of cost throughout April. This not only provides reassurance to its customers, but also helps the brand collect data on battery health and make improvements for the upcoming models.
