Six months after Hero Electric announced its alliance with Mahindra and Mahindra, it has rolled out the first lot of Optima and NYX e-scooters from Mahindra’s Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh.
The two companies have come together for a period of five years, where they will be jointly working on improving their individual two-wheeler electric portfolios. The process begins with Hero Electric and Mahindra exchanging R&D notes to not only better their current tech but also to explore future products for both domestic and international markets.
Meanwhile, Mahindra’s Pithampur facility is being utilised as one of the shared resources for this exercise. Going beyond the plant, the two brands will also share the supply chain network to get better market penetration.

Forming strategic alliances like these is a critical business decision for many two-wheeler EV manufacturers today. It helps brands like Hero Electric to ensure the entire ecosystem required for its electric scooters is in place when the products hit the market.
