Hero MotoCorp To Launch Its First E-scooter Tomorrow

Vida’s electric scooter could feature swappable battery technology

(Hero Vida V1 e-scooter launched in India at Rs 1,45,000, ex-showroom Delhi. Head here for the launch report.)

Hero MotoCorp’s new sub-brand Vida is all set to launch its first electric scooter tomorrow. This is a major development considering that the e-scooter’s debut has been delayed multiple times.

Very little is known about how the Hero Vida e-scooter looks or the performance it would offer. However, the company’s teasers have given out a few details, including the fact that it would get removable batteries and would have multiple charging solutions. This hints that the electric scooter could feature swappable batteries too, something that Hero’s partner Gogoro has expertise in.

Another teaser showed the silhouette of the upcoming e-scooter and it has a strong resemblance to the Gogoro S1. In fact, a spy shot of a Hero scooter surfaced on the internet which too had similarities with the Gogoro product.

The debut of the Hero Vida electric scooter will mark the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer’s foray into the competitive EV segment. It is expected to price the e-scooter at Rs 1 lakh, which would put it against the likes of the TVS iQube Electric and Bajaj Chetak.
