India-bound 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge Breaks Cover, Bring Out The Magnifying Glass To See What’s New

Along with the refreshed XC40 Recharge, Volvo has given the C40 a single motor option

This is the facelifted 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge, and it’s a bit like the iPhone 13. You see, Volvo has made minor upgrades to keep it up to date, but they are so minor that a handful of iPhone 13 users might consider it iPhone 12. You get the point, right? So without further ado, let’s get cracking to see what all has changed. Also, the C40 Recharge, XC40’s coupe version, received an update which we’ll get to.

Now, Volvo has made so minor changes that you might need to have a magnifying glass. For starters, the grille doesn't get a frame surrounding it, while the Thor hammer headlights get pixel LED light technology that adapt to traffic conditions. The bumpers are also slightly tweaked, while there are new colours and alloy rim options added to the menu.

The interior design and layout remain bang-on identical to the pre-facelift models. But, you now have an option to choose from vegan free interiors if you don’t prefer leather. You also get the Android-based portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, while, like other Volvo, there are plenty of safety features onboard.

But the main highlight is the new single motor option in the C40 Recharge. The single motor option should put out 231PS (based on the XC40 Single Motor) and draws out from a 69kWh battery pack. It’s expected to go up to 434km on the WLTP cycle. The C40’s battery pack supports fast charging, and it takes about 32 minutes to top up from 10 to 80 percent.

In India, Volvo will introduce the XC40 Recharge later this year and it will be the updated model. Prices are expected to start around Rs 60 lakh, and it will be a more affordable option to big guns like the Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC, and BMW iX.
