Renault Duster MY18 Launched, Prices Slashed

The Duster now costs Rs 29,000 to Rs 1 lakh less thanks to increased localisation

Renault Duster MY18 Launched

Renault has launched the Duster MY18 and while there are no design or feature changes made to the latest version of India’s first popular compact SUV, Renault has announced price cuts across the range.

Renault is attributing the price cut, which ranges from just under Rs 30,000 to just over Rs 1 lakh, to increased localisation though it has not specified what exactly those parts are. The price cut makes the Duster more competitive in a segment dominated by the Hyundai Creta and also consisting of competitors like the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and the Honda BR-V.

The Renault Duster MY18 petrol range now starts from Rs 7.95 lakh as compared to the earlier Rs 8.51 lakh, while the Duster MY18 diesel range starts from Rs 8.95 lakh as compared to Rs 9.46 lakh earlier. The Duster AWD sees the biggest cut of just over Rs 1 lakh, making it an even more attractive package than before.

The variants of the Duster MY18, their new prices and the difference in their cost are as follows (all prices, ex-showroom India):

RXE Petrol - Rs 7.95 lakh (- Rs 55,925)
RXL Petrol - Rs 8.79 lakh (- Rs 51,816)
RXS CVT Petrol - Rs 9.95 lakh (-Rs 29,746)

Std 85 PS Diesel - Rs 8.95 lakh (- Rs 50,663)
RXE 85 PS Diesel - Rs 9.09 lakh (- Rs 56,560)
RXS 85 PS Diesel - Rs 9.95 lakh (- Rs 79,034)
RXZ 85 PS Diesel - Rs 10.89 lakh (- Rs 76,237)
RXZ 110 PS Diesel - Rs 11.79 (-Rs 70,976)
RXZ 110 PS AMT Diesel - Rs 12.33 lakh (- Rs 76,970)
RXZ 110 PS AWD Diesel - Rs 12.79 lakh (just over Rs 1 lakh)

The Duster can be had with three engines - a 1.5-litre, 106PS/142Nm petrol engine paired either with 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic, a 1.5-litre, 85PS/200Nm turbo-diesel paired with a 5-speed manual and a 1.5-litre, 110PS/245Nm turbo-diesel paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.

The Renault Duster MY18 does not get any changes in terms of design or features when compared to the model launched back in 2016.
