New Honda CR-V Spied

The fifth generation Honda CR-V will be larger in size and will feature a 5+2 seating configuration as standard

New Honda CR-V spied-Front

Reports have been floating on the internet about Honda working on the fifth generation CR-V for a quite some time now. These images are probably the first spy images of the next generation CR-V in full camouflage. The test mule of the SUV was spied doing road tests in Ohio, USA. The company has increased the overall dimensions of the CR-V in terms of length, width and height since the fifth generation of the CR-V will feature a third row of seats. Till now, the Honda CR-V was always offered as a 5-seater in all markets.

Looking at the spy shots, the design cues of the SUV can be well understood. At the front, the SUV features a hexagonal grille with thick multi-layered horizontal slits. The grille is flanked by edgy headlight units on either side that are similar to the Honda Jazz. The front bumper has aggressive styling with a large air dam and fog lamps on the sides. The roof of the new CR-V is slightly curved to offer better headroom for the occupants. The SUV has a longer wheelbase which will in-turn provide sufficient legroom for the second and third rows. At the rear, the L-shaped tail lights follow the current design styling of other modern cars by Honda. The tailgate has a roof spoiler with a third brake lamp and dual exhaust tips.

The interiors of the new CR-V are not visible in the spy images but expect Honda to provide the SUV a premium look and feel. In terms of motive power, for the international markets, the CR-V will be offered with a 1.6-litre turbocharged and a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. For the diesel variant, the SUV will be offered with a 2-litre turbocharged engine. The India bound version of the new CR-V will feature the 2.4-litre petrol and the 2.0-litre diesel engines with different states of tune.

Honda is currently gearing up for the launch of the BR-V in India, with the new-gen CR-V expected sometime next year.
