Here’s More On The Citroen C5 Aircross Ahead Of Its 2020 Launch

While international markets are getting a PHEV iteration of the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV, more details have emerged about the internal combustion engine India spec SUV ahead of its 2020 launch. Reports suggest that the C5 Aircross will initially be sold in 10 cities. The carmaker also revealed its future plans with a focus on localised parts for their upcoming vehicles. 

The C5 Aircross will get a host of features such as dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors as well as hands-free parking.  Other bits include an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It also comes with driver assists like grip control and hill descent.

Under the hood, the SUV is powered by two petrol and two diesel engines in international markets. Petrol options comprise of turbocharged 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre engines, with the most powerful petrol mill delivering  180PS/250Nm of torque. The diesel options on the other hand include 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre mills, with the most powerful motor delivering 177PS/400Nm. All engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or an optional 8-speed automatic gearbox. Other performance bits include a progressive hydraulic cushion suspension system.

This will be the first Citroen model to be launched in India via the CKD route with a plan of launching one model per year in India. Expect prices to start from Rs 16 lakh. Once launched, the C5 Aircross will take on the likes of the Honda CR-V, MG Hector, Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Compass in India.
