This is the best look we’ve gotten at the upcoming Porsche Panamera yet.

2017 Porsche Panamera

The upcoming Porsche Panamera has been spied testing near the Nürburgring, almost undisguised and looking quite ready to roll out of showroom doors. This is the most extensive revision to the Panamera since its launch. The Panamera has been on sale since 2009, receiving only a mild facelift in 2013.

Porsche isn’t exactly known for radical revisions, as we’ve seen with the timeless 911 and Boxster. Instead, Zuffenhausen prefers incremental updates over every generation, all of which add up to substantial improvements over the course of time. And the 2017 Panamera is no different. It still looks very much like a Porsche, and very much like a Panamera, but thankfully softens the curve of the current model's controversial roofline.

The 2017 Porsche Panamera will be bigger and it will use a turbocharged engine no matter what the badge on the trunk says. Up until now, you could only get a turbo Panamera if you went for the most expensive models in the range, but starting with the new generation, all of them will be using forced induction.

There will also be hybrids on the table as the VW Group’s MSB architecture (Modular Standard Platform or Modularer Standardantrieb-Baukasten) allows it not only on the Porsche but on other cars as well. The weight might also go down by some 90 kg on average, which, in turn, should help with the CO2 emission factor and fuel consumption.

Expect the 2017 Porsche Panamera to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, or sometime thereabouts.
