Your First Look At The Mahindra Thar Draped In New White Shade

The new Everest White colour was introduced with the rear-wheel-drive iteration of the off-roading SUV, but will soon be offered on the four-wheel-drive Thar as well

The Thar is one of the popular Mahindras in recent years. It has been selling like hot cakes, and Mahindra made it a whole lot more accessible with the launch of its rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, which made it quite appealing to the people who didn’t necessarily need that off-roading prowess of the standard SUV. With the new iteration came new colours for the SUV, and the Everest White coloured models have now started reaching dealerships.

White and black always look good together and so they do on Mahindra Thar as well. The main body is painted white, while bits like the bumpers, door handles, side steps, wheel arches, ORVMs, and the roofline sport the black shade. And while we know things like these can be subjective, we personally like this new contrasting dual-tone paint scheme.

The tyres of the RWD Thar sport a light blue outline for the markings which further adds to the contrasting elements of this paint scheme. The new Everest White colour was added to the RWD Thar’s colour palette alongside the new Blazing Bronze hue.

But as per our previous report, the new Everest White colour will soon be offered on the standard four-wheel-drive (4WD) Thar as well, meaning the Blazing Bronze will be the only exclusive colour boasted by the RWD version.

The RWD Mahindra Thar is offered in both petrol and diesel powertrains, just like the standard Thar. But while the 150PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is the same as the 4WD variant, the diesel powertrain gets a smaller 118PS/300Nm, 1.5-litre unit in place of the 2.2-litre diesel unit. Here’s a detailed powertrain specifications comparison of the two iterations.

Mahindra retails the Thar between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 16.49 lakh, and the 4WD variants start from the Rs 13.59-lakh mark. The off-roading SUV is a rival to the Force Gurkha and the upcoming Maruti Jimny.
