The Indian FTR Gets A Sport-y Trim

The FTR Sport is positioned as a mid-spec model to replace the FTR S

  • The FTR Sport sits below the FTR R Carbon and above the FTR Rally and FTR.
  • It features an upgraded TFT console along with a couple of cosmetic changes.
  • Other important bits include a new clutch, retuned front braking system, and a new muffler.
  • The company also introduced the 2023 Indian Challenger Elite, limited to 150 units worldwide.
  • American-bred Indian Motorcycles has announced its 2023 lineup, which includes the all-new FTR Sport, an exclusive Challenger Elite model, and several other updates across its portfolio. The FTR Sport, positioned as a mid-spec model, replaces the FTR S.

As the name suggests, the new Sport model is Indian’s take on a sportier FTR. So it features two swanky new colour schemes: white with red accents, as well as black with red accents, a new headlight fairing, seat cowl, and number plate.

Other updates include a four-inch touchscreen display which supports navigation. The console has also been moved upward for better rider visibility. Rider aids such as three ride modes – Rain, Sport, and Standard – as well as lean-sensitive traction control and ABS have been retained.

Adding to the list of updates is a brand-new clutch designed to improve both feel and performance, as well as new brake pads for better braking performance.

Price-wise, the FTR models start at a retail price of $13,499 (Rs 11.01 lakh), with the FTR Rally costing $14,499 (Rs 11.8 lakh). The FTR Sport, on the other hand, is priced at $15,749 (Rs 12.85 lakh) in Black Metallic, while the FTR R Carbon starts at $17,249 (Rs 14.07 lakh).

Up next is the ultra-exclusive Indian Challenger Elite, limited to only 150 units worldwide. It features three unique liveries: Sapphire Blue Smoke with Black Smoke and Titanium Metallic Smoke detailing. Other notable bits include a more powerful music system, an adaptive LED headlight,  and new machine-cut wheels. The 2023 Indian Challenger Elite will be offered at $35,999, or around Rs 29.37 lakh in India.
