  • It continues to use the company’s 1203cc liquid-cooled V-twin and suspension setup.

Indian Motorcycles has unveiled a more hardcore version of its FTR 1200 Flat Tracker called the FTR Rally. This version looks more like a retro scrambler with its old-school styling and updated underpinnings. While the FTR 1200 range looks quite cool, the FTR Rally manages to look even cooler courtesy of a new Titanium Smoke paint job with a large Indian head on the fuel tank and vintage-looking brown aviator seat. It also gets cool bits like a tiny smoked windscreen above the LED headlamp.

The FTR Rally is more off-road capable than the standard FTR 1200 range. It has a more upright riding position due to a 50mm taller ProTaper handlebar. The FTR 1200’s cast aluminium alloys have been replaced with aluminium spoke wheels and off-road oriented Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres which should offer more grip when riding off the beaten track.

The FTR Rally gets the same powertrain as other FTR variants. The 1203cc liquid-cooled V-twin motor delivers a healthy 125PS and 117.9Nm of peak torque.  It even retains the same underpinnings as well - upside-down forks, rear monoshock as well as dual 320mm front and 265mm rear Brembo brakes with radial callipers.

The FTR will be launched worldwide by early 2020. It might come to India as well, possibly in the latter part of 2020. If launched here, we expect the FTR Rally to slot between the base FTR 1200 and FTR 1200 S.
