The facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan will go on sale in India in November 2021. Unlike the pre-facelift model that was a diesel-only model, the updated SUV will be a petrol engine only. Apart from that, the minor cosmetics updates keep it in line with VW’s latest design language.

The slightly more angular LED matrix headlamps and a new front bumper gives the front-end a slightly more aggressive look. Changes to the side are limited to new alloy wheels while the rear features revised tail lamps and bumper. Also, the keen eyed will notice Volkswagen’s new logo, that debuted in the Taigun, make its presence felt in the Tiguan.

Inside, your eyes will be drawn to the new full digital driver’s display that replaces the analogue dials of the older model. It also gets a new steering wheel (whose design is similar to VW’s ID cars) and touch-based climate controls. The thirty-colour ambient lighting further ups the ambience, especially at night.

Other notable features on board will include a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered driver’s seat, connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, and a slidable rear bench.

Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Aforementioned, the facelifted Tiguan will be a petrol-only offering, utilising VW’s 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol unit. It drives all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The facelifted VW Tiguan is likely to be priced from around Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same league as the Jeep Compass and the Citroen C5 Aircross.
