First Kia EV6 Electric Cars Reach Dealerships Ahead Of Launch

Only 100 units of the EV6 will be imported to India this year

The first Kia EV6 electric vehicles (EVs) have begun reaching select dealerships across the country. Kia will bring its first electric vehicle in India via the CBU (completely built-up unit) route, so only a small batch of 100 EVs have been allocated initially and will be delivered this year starting from September. Bookings are currently underway at 15 Kia dealerships for an amount of Rs 3 lakh, and the EV6’s prices will be announced on June 2.

On the outside, the Kia EV6 is a sporty-looking EV that could pass for an SUV if it weren’t so low-slung. It gets 19-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, flush door handles, adaptive LED headlights and LED taillights with sequential indicators.

Its interiors are minimalistically laid out with dual 12.3-inch curved displays for infotainment and driver’s instrumentation, an augmented-reality head-up display, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system and powered and ventilated front seats.

It’ll also come with a range of driver assistance and active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assist.

Kia EV6 Variants And Specs

The Kia EV6 will be offered in two trim levels – standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) and top-spec dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD). The RWD variant is powered by a 229PS and 350Nm electric motor good for a 0-100kmph time of 7.2 seconds. On the other hand, the AWD variant is much quicker with a combined 325PS and 605Nm output and a 0-100kmph time of 5.2 seconds.

Kia claims a range of up to 528km on a full charge, and the EV6 is capable of fast charging at lightning-fast speeds of up to 350kW. At that wattage, an 80 percent charge can be achieved in just 18 minutes!
