The Mahindra pavilion at Auto Expo 2020 features 18 vehicles including EVs, facelifts, and next-gen iterations of current vehicles. Amongst them, the carmaker has finally taken the wraps off the all-electric iteration of the XUV300 SUV, which is set to launch in the second half of 2020. Here’s how it differs from its internal combustion-engined counterpart:
On the outside, the XUV300 Electric's silhouette is nearly identical to the ICE version. However, it comes with a host of new styling elements, which differentiate it from its ICE counterpart. For starters, the XUV300 comes with a new grille design and sharper headlamps and bumpers. In profile, the XUV300 electric comes with new alloy wheels while the rear-end features tweaked tail lamps.
Inside, the XUV300 electric features blue inserts to denote its green nature. It also gets a new instrument cluster and a bigger infotainment system. The production model could feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, steering modes, and heated ORVMs. It could also get push-button start, cruise control, and a sunroof. Expected safety equipment includes seven airbags, ABS + EBD, parking sensors with rear camera, ESP, driver and co-driver seatbelt warning, and high speed alert.
The main change, however, is the all-electric motor but technical specifications are yet to be revealed.
While it has been showcased at Auto Expo 2020, we’ll have to wait for a long time as the SUV will launch on Indian shores only by 2021. Expect prices to begin at a premium over its predecessor, which starts from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom India). Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV in India.
