Dinos Will Ride On The Jeep Wrangler 4xe

It's a revival of the association between Jeep and Universal Pictures that first blossomed more than 30 years ago with the first Jurassic Park movie

The Jurassic Park movie franchise has been a cult classic for many, as it explored the imaginary scenario of bringing dinosaurs back to life; and of course the potential danger that entails. Jeep itself has a place in Jurassic history with the iconic scene of Dr. Ian Malcom taking a 1992 Wrangler and trying to escape a charging T-Rex. Well, almost thirty years later, Jeep and Universal Studios are teaming up again for the latest instalment, Jurassic World Dominion.

As part of the hype for the movie, we’ve got a one-minute commercial where a Jeep owner is taking a Carnotaurus around on off-road thrills not in a gas guzzler, but in the Wrangler 4xe plug-in-hybrid to showcase the future.

For reference, the Wrangler 4xe combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine and twin-electric motors to make 375PS and 637Nm, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The electric motors get juice from a 17kWh battery pack, which allows up to 40km of driving in pure electric mode. In the video, the Wrangler uses the e-Save mode, which reserves a particular amount of charge to allow driving in areas that can be driven in pure EV mode only. Perfect to keep the baby dino asleep.

The Wrangler ain’t the only Jeep model coming to Jurassic World Dominion, as we’ll be seeing the Gladiator and a vintage Grand Wagoneer make an appearance as well. Jurassic World releases in theatres on June 10. Check out the trailer below:
