  • 39 units of the imported Wrangler recalled.
  • Vehicles manufactured between 24 January and 17 March, 2020 affected.
  • Assembled-in-India Wrangler launched in 2021 safe to use.
  • Wrangler currently priced from Rs 55.15 lakh.

Jeep India has recalled 39 units of the Wrangler off-roader over a faulty fuel supply line connector. Vehicles manufactured between January 24, 2020 and March 17, 2020 have been affected in the recall. It’s safe to say that the assembled-in-India Wrangler is safe for daily usage considering it went on sale in March 2021.

There were cases of the fuel supply line connector cracking which, if unchecked, could have resulted in a fuel leak, and a potential fire hazard, and even loss of property and life itself.

Jeep will be contacting owners of the affected vehicles and will be inspecting the above mentioned part for any defects. If it is faulty, the part will be replaced at no extra cost. This will ensure that customers can drive their vehicles without any safety concerns or hazards.

Commenting on the recall, Nipun Mahajan, Head of Jeep India, said, “Customer safety and the quality of our vehicles are the topmost priorities for us. Thanks to our continuous and stringent quality control processes this issue was identified early. Trained technicians at our authorised workshops across the country will conduct the necessary checks and procedures, at no cost to the customers.”

The Jeep Wrangler is powered by a 271PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine driving all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It comes equipped with a host of off-road wizardry, including locking differentials, Jeep’s Rock Trac system with off-road modes (Rubicon only), and sway bar disconnect for better articulation.
