It’s the second price hike within four months for the off-roader
Force Motors started 2022 by giving the Gurkha its first price increment since its launch in September 2021. Fast forward to April 2022 and the off-roader has gotten dearer again, and is now priced at Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This time prices were increased by Rs 39,000 compared to Rs 51,000 the first time around, which had the off-roader priced at Rs 14.10 lakh.
The Gurkha is powered by a 91PS 2.6-litre diesel engine, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4x4 drivetrain. Off-road cred includes a low-range gearbox, snorkel and manual-locking (front and rear) differentials. Despite being an off-roader, the new Gurkha is more civilized inside than before. Offered in a sole fully-loaded three-door trim, it features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, front power windows, and a multi-info display. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Force Motors is also working on a five-door body style of the Gurkha, with test mules being spotted. It is expected to go on sale around Q2 2022. The current three-door Gurkha rivals the Mahindra Thar and will have the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny for company soon.
