  • Citroen C3 likely to get a new feature-loaded top variant in 2023.
  • Expected additions are rear washer and wiper, a parking camera and six airbags.
  • All of the aforementioned features are already on offer in the Brazilian model.
  • The Indian model could also get an automatic transmission next year.

The Citroen C3 is the French carmaker’s most affordable model in the country. In its current guise, the top variant lacks certain essential features compared to its similarly priced contenders. Well, Citroen has taken note of that and might be introducing a new feature-loaded top variant in 2023.

Don’t expect a big jump in feature additions, but the carmaker is expected to add all the essentials that are currently missing in the India-spec car. That includes a rear washer and wiper, a demister for the rear windscreen, rear-view camera and electronically operated ORVMs. It could also get alloy wheels, which is an optional extra at present for the C3 in India.

Even the list of safety features could get lengthened as the hatch could get updated with six airbags, three-point seatbelts for all three rear occupants and hill-start assist, when stricter safety norms are enforced here. All of these aforementioned features are already offered in the Brazilian C3

All these essentials would make life easier while using the vehicle. Currently, the hatch gets features like a manual air-conditioning, power windows, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and remote locking. Safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors.

In India, the C3 is offered with the choice of a 82PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and a 110PS 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a five-speed and a six-speed manual gearbox, respectively. An automatic option is currently missing in the C3, but it’s expected to debut later next year.

All these feature additions would result in the C3’s upcoming new top variant commanding a premium over the current Feel trim that costs from Rs 6.8 lakh (ex-showroom). It will make it a much better alternative to the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite as well as premium hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza
