I am driving Hyundai i10 for last 8 years without any issue. I enjoyed its smooth driving, build quality and customer care.. I want to buy Nexon petrol XZ. Is this correct decision? Can I hold it for next 8 years?

Hyundai i10 had undoubtedly proved it's mettle over the last years. Hyundai is known for its after sales services, besides it's hassle-free cars. Now coming to the issue, I'll relate my experience with Tata motors in general and Nexon in particular.  I'd been driving Tata Indigo diesel since June 2010. I decided indigo considering my five to six member family, like 70+ km travel each day and preference for sedan. I would say the car was a diesel rocket with the kind of throttle response I got over the years. Fantastic performance in occasional highways and regular city traffic. The ac was chilled and never bothered over the last 8 years. However the sedimented lamp, power window, and clutches plates had to be attended three times each over the  8 years. More than anything, general notion of people about Tata cars being taxi cars and that the resale value and demand was low would play in the mind. At the end of the day, I was satisfied with the car and Tata motors concept of value for money.  Now Nexon. While researching  I had also considered i20. But within the same budget, Nexon was a compact SUV with the latest features of driving modes, etc. The interiors were way improved considering what Tata used to provide and also competing with the best in class. First things first, it sure catches  attention. Drivability is good, bumpers and pot holes are easy. However the car should be considered keeping in mind it's a suv and is 209 mm above ground. Build quality is good. Gears are smooth, breaking is soft  and precise. Ac is chilled, music is great. The incabin sound insulation is very good. Haning driven Indigo, the Nexon  is a posh feeling altogether. Well talking about customer care / after sales service, I've seen tata in 2010 and in 2018. The service quality have definitely improved over time.  While talking with the Sales manager, I was told a few things I would like to share. 1. Tata was and is a predominantly  a cargo and passenger transportation manufacturer. Likewise, was the attitude across the hierarchy and after sales. So was it's not so exciting reputation in styling, performance and after sales. However,  It is waking up to the reality that to survive in cars and utility vehicles segment, it has to compete with pioneers like Maruti, Hyundai and likes. And it is waking up and how...look at the service stations, their cars like Tiago, NEXON, Nexa and  the H5X Harrier.   2. It will take time to shed the bad repute, but Tata is working on it and is trying to bring best standards in its cars.  3. For a while try and forget that these are Tata make and give an honest opinion...about Nexon, Tiago or Harrier.  To wrap up, I would mention two things. a. Tata, I went the second time also, cause it's come a long way from Indigo and indica to zest, tiago, hexa, etc in all the aspects.  b. That all the companies are here to compete and all the cars in any segment you pick are close competitors and all are equally efficient and equipt. So picknone you like. May i suggest go  in without a prejudice of tata cars and have a thorough test drive. I surely held my last Tata, that too a diesel, for 8 odd years and in great condition. And it never had let me down on road.   Wish you a happy new car soon.
