Dhaval | 5 years ago25 Reply1. In city you can get average of 11-13 depending on traffic and our driving patterns. I would recommend of driving in City mode. Eco mode would compel you to press on the acceleration more to surge ahead so chuck it. 2. There is a Insta FE meter in the center of the instrument cluster with reading from 0-30. Try to drive by keeping the reading more than half. That means the engine is consuming lesser petrol for that speed. And this applies for highway driving as well. I had been getting average around 12.5 in city and on highway I got 17.7. please note that I have got only first service done till now. Things can improve after 3rd service, when oil gets replaced.3. I read somewhere online that on highway, try to reach above 60km as fast as possible in city or sport mode and then switch to eco mode and try to drive with better insta fe reading on screen. That should help as well.
Vijay | 1 year ago3 ReplyI had a very bad feeling in the initial days of purchase, sometime I got ever 8kmpl as average, till 800km I was using only city mode while driving, after reading many articles I got some tips on nexon petrol amt driving 1). Use Eco mode always, I am getting average 13-14 in my place that is like semi city like traffic (within 1 month of purchase)2). Highway also I am using Eco mode and getting 18.2 in odometer and 17.2 kmpl when I check manually (within 1 month of purchase)many are complaining about Eco mode, but I could not find much difference in eco and city mode so i opt Eco as I my mileage improved a lot Tip for improving1). Never exceed 2000rpm2) in Traffic signal or waiting time Change gear to neutral rather than putting break and gear will be 1 by default3).Always use Eco mode and rare case use city/sports in hill area and put it back to eco mode in 99% of driving conditions4) Reset trip to zero so that it will calculate actual mileage of present trip rather than averaging from beginning** Sure mileage will improve further as my vehicle ran only 1100 km Actually Tata team should educate people to
Krat | 4 years ago6 ReplyI purchased the XZ+ petrol. Here are the stats: City - short distance(upto 5km)- 8-10kmpl. With appropriate gear shifts and less breaking, I get 11.5.In traffic, the mileage drops significantly. Not sure how to handle that bit. City - long distance(10km+) - 10.5-13kmpl. I switch to eco mode once i've crossed 3-4km. Once the car is cool enough, reducing the AC helps in improving the mileage by a fraction Highway- honestly I've stopped using sports mode, unless there is actually an empty road(which is almost never), defeats the purpose of being an SUV. I'm getting 17-21kmpl. Switching to eco mode helps in improving the mileage. In short, appropriate gear shifts helps and less dependency on break and clutch helps too. The 3rd service is due next month. Really hoping the city mileage to improve.
Mayank Pancholi | 6 years ago13 ReplyIn traffic and in city, drive your car on ECO mode. If you have manual transmission than try not to drive your car on half clutch. And don't go with the Screen reading its a bit different than original try your average by filling your tank with 10 litres when low fuel warning is indicated and check the mileage that how much kms did your car ran in 10 litres of petrol.
Prashanth | 5 years ago26 ReplyCompany claims 17 kmpl it's not even 15. I am using bs6 model automatic transmission it gives maximum 11 kmpl. On highway I got 12 kmpl. I am hugely disappointed with the mileage issue. Fuel consumption is more. My friend has diesel auto he gets a good mileage. The difference in mileage is huge. I am planning now to sell the car and look for better mileage car. Disappointed with TaTa .
Robesh | 6 years ago6 ReplyCompact SUV's are not made for mileage but still your car is giving very low mileage, mine is AMT still I am able to get 12-13, I suggest you switch your MID to mileage mode and try to watch it while driving it will improve your footwork on the Accelerator pedal. Driving at 60kmph on 4th gear gives Excellent mileage, try it.

Hi @ Dhaval-Your suggestions appear to be convincing though I will have to check and see practically. I have been driving in eco mode so far and getting about 11 km average in Delhi. About keeping the Insta Fe in slightly higher then half, I have read this somewhere. That too will try. Rest, I don't expect 14 km average in Delhi city driving, but if I can improve the current average to 12 or 12.5 km also, will be great, which in turn will lessen the monthly consumption of fuel considerably month wise.
Satyam | 4 years ago1 ReplyThis is true, mileage is poor for petrol. The average reading doesn't go below 8, but I'm sure its sometime below 8. I have made peace with it and I don't keep my console on average or range readings anymore. As for anything else, I fill up my tank once a month and drive as I use to. Else it was causing unnecessary anxiety which was making me not doubt this investment. Although this is a genuine concern, and mine is 2022 model only, so I'll take this complaint in my next free service.

Mitul | 4 years ago2 ReplyI did connect with Tata service guys regarding it as I was also getting low fuel mileage issue on my nexon petrol. The service station guy and I took of for a little ride to check the mileage and everything. With him driving we could get over 19 KMPL on my petrol car milage. so the conclusion was as he told me do not cross 2000 rpm in any gear and be quick to change to higher gear. The car runs smooth and at same time increase the milage. I hope it helps you

Initially it shows like that . after aroun or inbetween 1000-2000 it shows the correct avg. I have a 2019 XMA.. CITY in city mode 13-14KMPL and on highway in eco mode 19. both are with AC on... some times it surprises me with an avg on 20+

Get your facts right AMT petrol average is 16, and that is in ideal condition is cruising at 60 and AC turned off. I am surprised you didn't do research before buying sell this and buy Alto if mileage is your top priority
Saif | 4 years ago1 ReplyHi, Try Fuelling the tank full(Don’t overfill when the Pump is Autocut), Reset the Trip on Speedometer and Then run For 50-60 km. Then get your tank full again and then Divide total Kilometres/Total Fuel required to refill(try the same Fuel station). This way i got 18.09 km/l (Mine is XMA(S) Petrol on Highway. Will update later for City after checking.

I have Nexon XMA, In the city it gives 9 to 10 but on the expressway, I get between 17 to 19, the only thing is you have to drive around 90 in city mode
Dhaval | 3 years ago1 Reply@ Ramesh | I am getting an average mileage around 9 to 10 kmpl in Tata Nexon. What can I do to increase it - Nexon XM S patrol? And gear sifting problem
Mileage depends on many factors like driving pattern, time spent on crowded roads, servicing of the car, etc. you can get it checked at a service center for any system issues,, I dnt recall the exact term for it but some plug cleaning in the engine..some sort of filter..
Bharatesh | 3 years ago0 ReplyI have 5 months old Nexon XZ plus HS dark edition and this is my first car and I learnt driving before one week of getting this car and driven 8600km. I am getting 12.5-13kmpl mileage in city and 16-18kmpl in highway and just 2 services done yet.
Sravan | 4 years ago0 Reply@ Navin | Same here my Nexon xz petrol give 8km/l very disappointed 😞
Yes though the safety and interior features of the car are too good, mileage part has certainly disappointed. I didn't expect city mileage as 8 km per litre
