Vespa LX

Piaggio has dismissed rumours that it would be pulling off the Vespa LX from the Indian two-wheeler market. There were many reports online that the Italian scooter manufacturer will remove the Vespa LX from its Indian product portfolio. But when ZigWheels contacted Piaggio, they denied any such plans and said that the Vespa LX will continue to be sold in our market. One of the main reasons giving rise to the speculation that the Vespa LX will be discontinued is the fact that the Italian scooter manufacture introduced the Vespa VX which is identical to the Vespa LX barring the cosmetic updates like brighter colour options, rear grab rail and beige seats on select colour options. The other major distinguishing factor is the presence of disc brakes at front on the Vespa VX. The LX is the entry-level scooter offering in the Vespa India portfolio and made its Indian debut in 2012.

Powering the scooter is a single-cylinder, 3-valave, air-cooled mill that pumps out 10PS of peak power and maximum torque of 10.6Nm. Vespa is also expected to introduce fuel injection to its 125cc scooters in India soon (story link) and the Vespa VX also might be equipped with this fuel injection technology. Vespa also showcased the GTS 300 at the 2015 India Bike Week and is also working on a new 150cc scooter that will be launched soon in our two-wheeler market. Watch this space for more updates.
