Vespa SXL launch

Despite the plethora of products being showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo no new Vespa products except the Vespa S has hit the Indian market. And it’s been the same case in 2015 as well but all this is about to change next month. Vespa India has sent out an invite regarding a new product launch on September 1st. The new Vespa scooters will be unveiled by Alessandro Del Piero who was recently announced as the global brand ambassador for the Italian manufacturer.

The new Vespa scooters in reckoning are rumoured to be the Vespa VXL and Vespa SXL. The new scooters are basically additional variants of the Vespa VX and S that are already on sale in our two-wheeler market. No mechanical updates are expected and changes will be limited to the cosmetic end. The new Vespa VXL and Vespa SXL are expected to be equipped with semi-digital instrument console, new alloy wheels and new colour options. Both the new Vespa scooters will be powered by the same 125cc displacement air-cooled motor churns out 10PS at 7,500rpm and torque figure stands at 10.6Nm at 6,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheels via a CVT transmission. Talking about pricing expect both the new scooters to be priced at a premium of Rs 3,000 to 4,000 over the standard variant. This means that the Vespa scooter wouldn’t be a value for money proposition in any sort. We will be present at the launch, watch this space for more updates.
