Next-Gen BMW 3 Series Teased, Set To Debut At Paris Motor Show

New BMW 3 Series To Debut At Paris

BMW has released a short video of the new 3 Series entering the pre-production stage at the company’s Dingolfing plant in Germany. The footage shows the car being assembled from scratch at the assembly line. Although details are scant, the video gives us a fair idea of what the car might look like.

The design will be more evolutionary than revolutionary. The front fascia will be in tune with BMW’s new design language and will feature headlamps that are similar to the ones that grace the 5 Series and 7 Series sedans. The tail lamps will feature a slim design not unlike the new 8 Series coupe, giving the car a sporty look.

The cabin will be updated as well. In the video, an all-digital instrument cluster can be seen along with new hexagonal shaped aircon vents.

New 3 Series will be built on the CLAR platform that also underpins the 5 Series and 7 Series. The more rigid chassis should make the upcoming 3 Series a better handling car. Expect the suspension, steering and brakes to be updated as well. BMW will likely offer the 3 Series with four- and straight-six engine options.

However, expect BMW to equip the India-spec model with the same 2.0-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol units that are offered currently, albeit in higher states of tune. The new-gen 3 Series will make its international debut at the Paris Motor Show next week. Stay tuned to Zigwheels for more updates.
