Lamborghini To Tread The Electric Route, Confirms First All-electric Car By 2030

Going forward, the luxury carmaker will focus on hybrids and its first-ever all-electric model

  • The entire lineup is expected to run under hybrid propulsion by 2024.

  • Lamborghini’s debut all-electric vehicle will likely launch by 2030.

  • The carmaker will have ICEs alive for now, with two V12 models announced for later this year.

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has confirmed that its first fully electric model would launch by 2030. President and CEO Stephan Winklemann has laid out a roadmap for the future, stating that the company would gradually transition to hybrids before bringing out their first all-electric car.

The entire model lineup, comprising the Urus SUV, the Huracan, and possibly the successor to the Aventador will be hybridised by 2024. The first model will come by 2023, As of now, Lamborghini’s only electric offering is the (already sold out) Sián hypercar, running a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup.

The exact powertrain details have yet to come out. Currently, the ICE-powered Urus has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making 650PS and 850Nm, while the Huracan is propelled by a 5.2-litre V10 pushing out 640PS and 600Nm. The Aventador, in its most powerful SVJ trim, has a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 motor delivering 770PS and 720Nm.

The highlight reel of the roadmap has to be Lamborghini’s first-ever fully electric offering, which will debut by 2030. That said, the carmaker has their lips sealed on any other detail about the EV.

However, all this might raise a few eyebrows among those who like the V12 engine soundtrack. But thankfully, Lamborghini had previously assured us it would keep the V12s alive, with two models coming out later this year. The new models could either be based on the Aventador, or be Special Edition models.
