The Caged shares almost nothing with the original 1964 Mustang convertible.
This gorgeous classic 1964.5 Ford Mustang Convertible finished in Burgundy Brave shade is actually a facade as underneath that gleaming paintwork is the running gear of a 2022 Ford Mustang GT, complete with the iconic 5.0-litre Coyote V8 crate and the 10-speed automatic gearbox. Wisconsin-based custom shop Ringbrothers dearly calls it the ‘Caged’ and it apparently took them 4,200 hours until they could pat their shoulders.
The Caged is a one-off customer project car which shares nothing with the original car except the wheel centre caps. Everything else was designed in CAD, custom-fabricated and handmade.
The new bodywork has also been widened and lengthened by one inch, while the grille was moved back by 2 inches. The restomod also features many unique parts, some of which were 3D printed as well. These wheels are 18-inch ones by EVOD Industries covered in Continental rubber.
Unlike the original car which uses a rudimentary suspension setup, Ringbrothers converted the rear to an independent setup and sourced Penske racing coil-overs and Baer brakes to further improve road characteristics.
Ringbrothers hasn't released any engine specifications yet, but we do know that the 5.0-litre Coyote crate engine makes a healthy 460PS and 570Nm. But, there’s more, as the Caged also features custom headers and a Flowmaster exhaust system.
The beautiful interior design has not been tampered with, but it gets bits like a billet machined steering wheel, gauges from Dakota Digital and a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum universal climate control system.

“The client was highly involved in the process and adamant on maintaining a subtle, stock-like appearance,” says Mike Ring, Co-owner, Ringbrothers. We suppose the client will be delighted with this beautiful classic Mustang Convertible that petrolheads with tuned cars will regret racing when the lights go green.
