Nissan has launched the Micra Fashion Edition at Rs 6.09 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). Its exterior and interior styling have been inspired by Italian fashion brand - United Colors of Benetton. It is a limited edition and will be available throughout the 2017 festive season. The Micra Fashion Edition is based on Micra's XL CVT variant but gets cosmetic and feature updates both inside and out. It also gets two colour options - Fashion Black and Fashion Orange. All this at a premium of Rs 10,000 over the standard variant.

On the outside, the Micra Fashion Edition gets contrast body graphics, centre racing stripe, black wheel caps with orange inserts, contrast accents on the ORVMs and tinted glasses. The graphics make the Micra look sporty, especially in the gloss black shade.

Inside, you get designer front headrests and floor mats, orange accents around the gearbox, AC vents, door panels and around the infotainment system which comprises of a 6.2-inch touchscreen which supports navigation via phone mirroring.

As an added bonus for the first 500 customers, the Micra Fashion Edition will also come with Benetton accessories like belts and wallets for both men and women. The Fashion Edition Micra will even feature the recently launched NissanConnect platform with a three-year free service package.

Mechanically, it is similar to the petrol CVT variants of the of the Micra. It gets a 1.2-litre petrol motor which produces 77PS of max power and 104Nm of peak torque. Mated to an X-Tronic CVT, the Micra returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.34kmpl.

Nissan manages to sell about 650-700 units of the Micra every month. The Fashion Edition does look appealing but it remains to be seen whether it will help Nissan garner more customers or not, especially considering the fact that the all-new Micra is stunningly better than the current one, and might make an entry into India next year. But for those looking specifically for a Micra with the convenience of an automatic gearbox, the Fashion Edition does add a dash of spice.
