2018 Audi Q5 Launched At Rs 53.25 Lakh

The latest generation Q5 is available only in a diesel avatar for now

2018 Audi Q5

Audi has launched the all-new Q5 35 TDI Quattro at a starting price of Rs 53.25 lakh, ex-showroom pan India, today. The old Q5 has evolved, taking design cues from its elder sibling, the Audi Q7. But, going from the silhouette, it still is reminiscent of the outgoing model. The new generation is also based on the lighter new MLB Evo platform, which has helped it shed 65kg of weight compared to the older generation.

  • Audi Q5 35 TDI Premium Plus - Rs 53.25 Lakh
  • Audi Q5 35 TDI Technology - Rs 57.6 Lakh

Look at the 2018 Audi Q5 and the face immediately connects it to the Q7. The sleek and sharp headlights with the angular DRLs complement the big grille and give the SUV a mean look. From the side, the design is similar to the older generation, but at the back, there are again elements inspired by the bigger brother, like the LED tail lamps.

Inside, the cabin has not been designed to look radical or futuristic. Rather, there is a certain old-school charm in the way the AC vents and the infotainment systems have been placed. They are not Audi's usual connected vents or the folding display, rather conventional units. But, being an Audi mid-size SUV, you have a pool of features like an 8.3-inch infotainment system which runs the MMI interface and supports handwriting recognition, Bang & Olufsen sound system, a 12.3-inch ‘Virtual Cockpit’ instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charger and three-zone automatic climate control. In terms of cabin safety, you get 8 airbags.

Powering the SUV is a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Yes, as of now, there is no petrol option. The diesel mill produces 190PS of peak power at 3,800-4,200rpm and 400Nm of max torque at 1,750-3,000rpm. It comes paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and features Quattro all-wheel drive. Claimed 0-100kmph time is 7.9 seconds and the top speed is mentioned as 218kmph. Audi also claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 17.01kmpl. Rivals to the Q5 in India are the Mercedes-Benz GLCBMW X3 and the Volvo XC60.
