At Rs 39.99 lakh, the newly launched base-spec Audi A4 Premium does seem like a bargain if you want a luxury sedan without breaking the bank. It comes with a decently powerful engine, all the necessary features, and, of course, the swank associated with a luxury badge.
What does it miss out on? We’ll tell you in a moment. But before that, here are the variant-wise prices:
Audi A4 Variants |
Ex-showroom Price |
Premium |
Rs 39.99 lakh |
Premium Plus |
Rs 43.71 lakh |
Technology |
Rs 47.61 lakh |
The A4 Premium is Rs 7.62 lakh more affordable than the top-spec trim, Technology. However, the lower price does come at the cost of a few creature comforts, including three-zone climate control, a digital driver's display, eight airbags, and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Nonetheless, the A4 Premium is undoubtedly a decently loaded trim featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, single-zone climate control, single-colour ambient lighting, cruise control, and electrically adjustable front seats.
Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags (the top-spec trim has eight), ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors with rear-view camera, electric parking brake with auto hold, and electronic stability control.
The A4 Premium gets the familiar 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, driving the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Overall, we feel the A4 Premium makes sense. It's priced much like the BMW 2 Series (starting from Rs 39.5 lakh) and Mercedes-Benz A-Class (41.55 lakh onwards), both of which sit a segment below it. It's also more affordable than the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Volvo S60.
