Days after dropping a teaser for the upcoming SUV, Jeep has announced that the 2022 Grand Cherokee will be launched on November 11, 2022. It’ll be the carmaker’s flagship SUV in India and a rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7.
Now in its fifth generation, the Grand Cherokee is no longer the flagship SUV in the US market, where it slots below the Grand Wagoneer. However, in India, it’ll be the carmaker’s polesitter.Although the Grand Cherokee has existed in India previously, the 2022 model is an all-new SUV that features a boxy design and an upright, imposing front end.
In India, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will get a 2-litre turbo petrol engine with an 8-speed transmission and four-wheel drive alongside Jeep’s Selec Terrain system for off-roading.
It’ll also get the full suite of driver-assistance features (ADAS) including forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. Other features include a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, head-up display (HUD) and panoramic sunroof.
The Grand Cherokee will offer a capable off-roading package and bring some diversityinto the premium full-size SUV segment. It’ll be locally assembled in India and is likely priced at around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
