The Wait Got A Tad Longer For Jeep’s Upcoming Grand Cherokee

• Jeep Grand Cherokee to launch in India on November 17.

If you had your eyes on the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee, your wait for the price reveal just got a tad longer. Jeep India will now announce prices of the upcoming luxury SUV on November 17 instead of the originally planned date of November 11. The Grand Cherokee will be the pole sitter for Jeep in the Indian market and will be loaded with all the bells and whistles. 

 

Assembling of Jeep’s luxury SUV has begun at the carmaker’s Ranjangaon facility, as the SUV is being launched as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model. Pre-launch bookings are underway and interested customers can book the Grand Cherokee either via Jeep’s website or a dealership. 

The India-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee will come with all the bells and whistles. Top highlights include a 10-inch heads-up display, separate 10.25-inch infotainment system for the co-driver, Capri leather upholstery, active noise cancellation, a powered tailgate, and ambient lighting. Safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and a full suite of ADAS features.  

Underneath the hood, the SUV will get a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with an eight-speed auto ‘box. This being a Jeep, it emphasises more on off-road ability with its Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system and Selec-Terrain system with off-road modes that adjusts various parameters of the car. 

With the Grand Cherokee being locally assembled, we expect prices to start in the range of around Rs 85 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with other mainstream luxury SUVs such as Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and the Volvo XC90.
