Isuzu Gives The D-Max V-Cross A More Premium Z-Prestige Variant

Set to strengthen its niche value in the lifestyle pick-up segment

  • It is powered by a more powerful 1.9-litre 150PS/350Nm diesel motor mated to a 6-speed auto gearbox.
  • Interior changes include two-tone perforated leather seats and additional speakers on the roof.
  • Safety upgrades include 6 airbags and a Brake Override System.
  • It is offered in three new colour options- Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, Pearl White and Cosmic Black.

After the launch of Isuzu’s D-Max V-Cross facelift in the country on July 24, many were expecting a more aggressive option alongside an automatic transmission option. Unfortunately it wasn’t present in its initial guise. However, the wait is finally over as Isuzu has introduced a more premium variant called the ’Z-Prestige’ at a price tag of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets more options, more  power as well as the long-awaited auto gearbox.

The main highlight of the Z-prestige variant is that it is powered by a new 1.9-litre diesel motor. While it is smaller in displacement compared to the 2.5-litre diesel turbo present in the ‘Standard’ and ‘Z’ variants, it packs more power. The 1.9-litre motor delivers 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque, which is 16PS and 30Nm more than the current 2.5-litre diesel mill. However, this engine is BS4 compliant, which is a surprise considering the BS6 norms will take effect from April 2020 onwards.

Alongside the 1.9-litre motor, the ‘Z-Prestige’ variant is offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Its lower spec variants are limited to a 5-speed manual. It retains the 4WD (shift-on-fly) drive mode system, High Ride suspension and a wide track with a long wheelbase.

On the exterior front, the ‘Z-Prestige’ variant doesn’t sport any changes compared to its lower spec counterparts. Instead, it gets three new colour options- Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, Pearl White and Cosmic Black. The other variants will be available in Obsidian Grey and Titanium Silver.

Exterior highlights include a sporty grille with Bi-LED headlamps and chrome bezel around the fog lamps. Other features include diamond cut 18” alloy wheels sporty roof-rails and an upgraded rear-end.

Inside, the ‘Z-Prestige’ variant gets a more premium look with two-tone Brown-Grey perforated leather seats compared to the full black seats present in the ‘High (Z)’ and ‘Standard’ variants. The new variant now gets additional live-surround speakers on the roof. The new variant also gets safety upgrades in the form of 6-airbags and BOS (Brake-Override System), which can act as a failsafe and reduce the chance of a high-speed crash. Interior highlights include steering mounted audio controls and a 7” touch screen audio system with USB input, DVD, AUX, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

With this new variant, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is now available in three variants in the price range of Rs 15.51 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the addition of the new variant, the V-Cross will continue to enjoy its monopoly in the lifestyle pickup segment, being the only vehicle currently in this niche segment in India.
