India-bound 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander spotted

Spy shots of the India-bound 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander facelift have surfaced on the web. The 2016 Outlander was snapped completely undisguised while it was awaiting shipment at a port in Japan. These spy shots have hit the web ahead of the SUVs reported unveiling in Japan and a global debut at the New York Auto Show next month.

While the spy shots do not reveal the front fascia of the refreshed 2016 Outlander completely, it appears that the design is inspired from the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV concept that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year. The car receives prominent chrome treatment and sleek headlamps. The 2016 Outlander rides on diamond cut alloy wheels. Tail lamps featuring red graphics and a redesigned bumper integrating the fog lamps complete the rear end look of this car.

Though, the spy shots do not reveal the interior of the car, the 2016 Outlander is expected to get new dashboard trims and infotainment system. Apart from a plug-in hybrid, power to this refreshed SUV is expected to come from the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines.

Reports suggest that Hindustan Motors, the Indian partner of the Japanese carmaker, is planning to launch the petrol variant of the Outlander in the country later this year. The diesel variant is expected to reach the Indian shores next year.
