The KL Brera X 125 & 300 come packed with heated grips, dual-channel ABS, LED Lighting and more

KL Brera X ADV Scooter Launched

The arrival of the Honda ADV350 marked a turning point in the global scooter scene, as it proved that scooters can be converted from strictly being urban runabouts to machines with a little more ability to handle things when the tarmac ends. Its launch became the beginning of the ADV scooter era, and many manufacturers have tried to bank on the success of such scooters ever since.

Italian manufacturer KL Motors aims to be one such manufacturer and it has unveiled a new scooter range named the Brera X in Europe. Interestingly, KL Motors and FB Mondial, which recently launched the Piega 125, are both owned by the same Italian company Pelpi International Group.

The Brera X is available in two variants: 125cc and 300cc and is based on the Brera, which is a maxi-street-scooter. Compared with the standard Brera, the Brera X’s suspension has been strengthened and adjusted for better stability and handling. You get a 35mm inverted front fork along with dual rear shock absorbers.

Common features include 13-inch wheels with a 110/70 tyre at the front and 130/70 at the rear, dual channel ABS, a 13.5-litre fuel tank and an 805mm seat height. Further, you have heated grips, LED lighting units, an adjustable flyscreen, keyless ignition and fog lights as standard on both scooters.

That said, this is where the similarities between the two scooters end. Powering the Brera X 125 is a 124.9cc single-cylinder engine that makes 11.15PS and 10.5Nm, making it more powerful than any of the 125cc scooters available in India. But, with a kerb weight of 152kg, it’s a lot heavier than the 125cc scooters we’re used to as well. As for braking hardware, it comes with a 240mm disc at the front and 215mm one at the rear.

The Brera X 300, on the other hand, comes equipped with a 278.2cc, single-cylinder engine making 18.76PS and 24.5Nm. That means it makes 0.06PS and 2.5Nm more than the other 278.2cc scooter in India, the Keeway Vieste 300. While  the larger Brera gets a 240mm disc at the front too, there’s a bigger 220mm disc at the rear. Weighing 169kg, this scooter is on the heavier side as well.

Both scooters are available in two colours: Grey-Green-Black and Grey-Red-Black. The Brera X 125 retails at a price of 3,906 Euros (approximately Rs 3.18 lakh) while the X 300 costs 5,640 Euros (approximately Rs 4.59 lakh). Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that these scooters will make their way to India.
