The January 2024 SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) sales figures revealed something interesting about the Harley-Davidson X440 & the 400cc Triumph twins
In January 2024, Harley-Davidson sold 3,349 units of the X440, which is more than the combined sales figures (2,015 units) of the Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X!
Harley-Davidson’s widespread brand recognition along with the fact that it is sold through through Hero Premia as well as Harley-Davidson dealerships across the country must’ve played a huge role
This means the X440 is available to buy in more cities and towns compared to the two Triumph bikes, which are only sold through Triumph dealerships (currently there are 59)
Harley-Davidson X440 variant-wise prices: Denim - Rs 2,39,5000, Vivid - Rs 2,59,500 and S - Rs 2,79,500 (all prices ex-showroom)
Interestingly, since their respective launches till the end of January 2024, Triumph sold 18,546 units of the Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X while Harley-Davidson sold 10,211 units of the X440
The huge allure of the Harley-Davidson badge must have contributed towards those numbers
