The Keeway GT270 won’t be as expensive as the BMW C 400 GT either
Keeway has teased a new model in its invite, and it appears to be the GT270 maxi-scooter. This hints at the fact the Chinese-Hungarian brand could introduce the maxi-scooter along with the cruiser on May 17.
The Keeway GT270 (or Vieste 300) is already on sale in overseas markets like Thailand and Ireland. It has a proper maxi-scooter design with a tall windscreen, long seat, tall and wide handlebar, and a 9.5-litre fuel tank.
Keeway has used a 278cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine developing 19PS at 6500rpm and 22.5Nm at 6000rpm for the GT270. For reference, the Yamaha Aerox 155 produces 15PS and 13.9Nm, while the BMW C 400 GT makes 34PS and 35Nm. The Keeway GT270’s performance slots right between these two.

The GT270 packs decent hardware too, with a 35mm telescopic fork and KYB dual shocks taking care of suspension duties, while a J Juan 240mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear drop anchor on this 147kg (dry weight) maxi-scooter.
The upcoming maxi-scooter flaunts dual-channel ABS and features a part-digital instrument console with an LCD inlay flanked by two analogue dials. To top that off, it even gets keyless ignition.
The Keeway GT270 is expected to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh, making it just over a lakh costlier than the Aerox, and substantially cheaper than BMW’s Rs 10.40 lakh maxi-scooter. The upcoming scooter will enjoy an unchallenged position in the market with its price and performance. However, its availability and the brand’s sales and service network will play a key role in determining the success of this product.
