Yamaha Rides In The BS6 R15 V3

It is 0.7PS less powerful and 0.6Nm less torquey compared to the BS4-compliant version

  • The BS6-compliant iteration is dearer by Rs 4,420.
  • Apart from the emission compliance, the BS6-iteration gets a side-stand engine cut-off feature, dual horns and a radial rear tyre.

    After the launch of the BS6-compliant FZ FI range, Yamaha has now introduced the BS6-compliant YZF-R15 Version 3.0 in the Indian market. The updated motorcycle starts from Rs 1,45,300 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Thunder Grey colour variant. This makes the new bike dearer than the old one by Rs 4,420. Here’s the price comparison:

    But more importantly, the BS6-compliant bike is slightly low on both power and torque. The BS4 bike made 19.3PS of power at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8500rpm. The BS6 version generates 18.6PS and 14.1Nm at the same rev ranges respectively. In terms of tangible features, Yamaha has equipped the bike with a side-stand engine cut-off feature, radial tubeless tyre and a dual horn setup.

    Also, the blue colour variant now gets blue wheels instead of black ones with blue rim stickers. Interestingly, the BS6 bike isn’t available in the MotoGP limited edition guise. The MotoGP edition is priced at Rs 1,42,780 for the BS4-compliant version.

    Chennai, December 09, 2019: At the backdrop of The Call of the Blue creating excitement through Yamaha products and experiences, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. announces the launch of YZF-R15 Version 3.0 (155 cc) in BS VI that will be available across all company dealerships of the country from the 3rd week of December, 2019. After the company’s announcement in August 2019 to introduce the BS VI engine equipped two wheelers in India, today’s introduction of the YZF-R15 Version 3.0 in BS VI followed the first introduction of Yamaha BS VI vehicles that is, FZ FI (149 cc) and FZS FI (149 cc) in November this year. The new YZF-R15 Version 3.0 in BS VI will be available in 3 current colours – Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Darknight, along with the Racing Blue variant standardizing blue coloured wheels. The Ex-Showroom Delhi begins from Rs. 145,300.

    With a weight of 142 kgs, the new BS VI engine equipped YZF-R15 Version 3.0 gets ‘Side stand engine cut-off switch’, ‘Dual horn’ and ‘Radial tubeless tyre’ at the rear wheel. Such new features will be standardized in all variants of the YZF-R15 Version 3.0. Additionally, to perk up the sporty excitement of ‘The Call of the Blue’, the RACING BLUE colour variant gets ‘blue colour wheels’ that match with the racing excitement of the motorcycle. The new BS VI engine equipped YZF-R15 Version 3.0 has a 155 cc, Liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine that produces a power output of 18.6 PS at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 14.1 N.m at 8,500 rpm.
