Honda WR-V under wraps

Honda had revealed the official sketches of the WR-V a couple of weeks ago and now, the Japenese automaker has teased the production variant of the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, under wraps. The Jazz- based compact SUV's world premiere will be at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show on November 8. The WR-V will go on sale in South American countries in the coming months and is likely to hit the Indian shores by the first quarter of 2017.

The WR-V is based on the Honda Jazz and shares its side profile with the hatch. As seen in the teaser image, the WR-V will have LED park lights, just like the BR-V. However, the front and rear profiles of the WR-V will be entirely new.

The compact SUV will borrow most of the things that the Jazz is recognized for, such as a spacious cabin, class-leading boot space, Magic Seats, and much more.

The WR-V is also likely to share its mechanicals with the hatchback in the international market. However, in India, the default engines will be the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol mill producing 90 PS of power and 1.5-litre i-DTEC oil burner producing 100 PS of power. Apart from these, the Japenese giant might also offer a bigger 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor which will churn out 119 PS of power. The same motor is found under the hood of the Honda City.

Once launched, the WR-V will go up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Berzza, Ford EcoSport, Manhindra NuvoSport and the Mahindra TUV 300.
