SUVs are currently a hot trend in India, and the people at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited are taking just the right steps towards it. Our team has been able to capture Mahindra's next offering for us in the new mini-SUV segment. The S101 codenamed by Mahindra is going to be the next addition to the company's vehicle range. The vehicle was spotted carrying out test runs on the national highway.

On first inspection, we noticed the overall design ideology to be adopted from the  Mahindra's XUV 5oo. The contours of the bonnet with its small air vents on the side along with the 3-way split radiator grille confirm the same.

On the side profile the S101 comes with slightly flared wheels arches which gives the vehicle good road presence. Also another noticeable feature observed  are the rear door handles that are located on the C-pillar, something similar to the Chevrolet Beat.

Moving to the rear section, the S101 has been provided with a rear spoiler and reflectors on the sculpted rear bumper. The entrance to the rear tailgate seem to be a bit higher which could pose a challenge while loading and offloading luggage.

We also observed the taillights to be provided with a fading effect whenever the driver took his foot off the brake pedal, which means the taillight could be equipped with LED lamps. It would be a nice feature if provided in the launch model.

The latest we heard is that Mahindra is looking to roll out S101 in 2016 at the Auto Expo.
