India-bound Jeep 551 SUV 'Compass' spied ahead of world debut

Jeep Compass Spotted in Brazil

The Jeep brand officially entered India last month with two of its models, the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee along with the high-performance SRT variant. Now, the India-bound Jeep Compass has been spotted in Brazil during a TVC. The car gets a traditional SUV styling that is similar to the larger Grand Cherokee.

On the outside, the Jeep Compass features a wide look, a shallow grille, sharper headlights, squared-off wheel arches and large alloys. The rear end gets horizontally aligned taillamps with LED units. The top-end variant that was snapped, gets dual-tone exteriors and plenty of chrome highlights.

Speaking of the interiors, the car gets a U-Connect infotainment system with a large 8-inch screen, climate control, and push-button start/stop. There might be a seven-seat option as well for this SUV.

Mechanically, the India-bound Jeep Compass is likely to get a 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet II diesel engine (this engine will also be seen in Tata's upcoming Q501 SUV) that produces 174.67PS of power. Jeep India will locally assemble the Compass at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune.

Prices are expected to start around the Rs 20 lakh mark.
