After several teaser campaigns Honda has finally revealed its new car – the 2015 Civic Type R in full guise at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Japanese carmaker calls this new vehicle as ‘the race car of the road’.
The 2015 Honda Civic Type R has an aerodynamic body kit that includes a new front bumper with larger air intakes and a front splitter. This new car also receives ventilated front fenders, extended side skirts and flat underbody panels that channel air to the rear diffuser. The 2015 Civic Type R gets a prominent rear wing, a quad-tailpipe exhaust system and 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/35R19 tyres.
Inside, this new car receives suede-effect sport seats with red contrast stitching, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, aluminum gearlever and roof lining trimmed in black fabric.
Customers can also opt for a GT package that adds red exterior accents, front and rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and power folding door mirrors. Other highlights include a premium audio system, GPS navigation and a variety of safety systems including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
A 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine runs under the hood of this new car to deliver 310PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.7 seconds before hitting a top-speed of 270kmph.
The new Honda Civic Type R is expected to go on sale in the European market before the end of this year.
