Fiat has just introduced the Mobi in Brazil. It is a city car, which falls in the A-segment category of vehicles. The compact hatchback will be offered in six different trim options. The same segment is also shared by the Renault Kwid that will soon make an appearance in the Brazilian market. The Renault Kwid is manufactured in India and will be sold as an import.

The compact hatchback Mobi adopts the basic layout of a mini SUV. The front features a glossy black grille with sweep back headlamps on either side. The accentuated wheel arches continue on to the bumper, giving the car a rugger look. The fog lamps have been set high and just below the headlamps.

Moving to the profile of the vehicle, the Mobi has flared aches with black B-pillars, roof rails on top and a significant ground clearance. At the rear, the tail lamps have been mounted at the base of the C-pillar while the tail gate comes painted in black to give it a contrasting look. The car sits on 13-inch alloy wheels for the base variant while rest get 14-inch ones. The Mobi is offered in 10 different colour options.

Providing motive power to the Fiat Mobi will be a 1.0-litre four cylinder engine that produces 74PS of power and 93Nm of peak torque. The Mobi is also equipped with the provision to run on ethanol fuel, on which the car produces slightly more power as compared to conventional fuel. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual transmission powering the front wheels. The powertrain configuration will be the same throughout all the trims.

Currently, Fiat has no plan of bring the Mobi to India. If launched, the compact city car could just help the company generate better sales figures. If priced well, the Fiat Mobi will face competition from the popular Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Hyundai Eon.
