2016 Auto Expo: UM Motorcycles to unveil 3 cruiser bikes


UM Motorcycles will makes its debut in the Indian market by unveiling the Renegade Sport S, Renegade Commando and Renegade Classic on February 3rd. Booking for the cruiser bikes will also start at the Auto Expo

UM Motorcycles Renegade Commando

UM Motorcycles confirmed through a press release that it will makes its debut in our two-wheeler market at the 2016 Auto Expo on February 3rd. UM Motorcycles will unveil three cruiser motorcycles at the Auto Expo which includes the Renegade Sport S, Renegade Commando and Renegade Classic. UM Motorcycles is a joint venture between the American motorcycle maker, UM International, LLC along with Lohia Auto. Bookings for the Renegade series will also commence at the Auto Expo 2016. The Renegade Commando is a cruiser motorcycle offering which is powered by a 279 cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine developing 25PS at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a 6-speed transmission. The Renegade Sport S and the Renegade S will also the same 279cc powerplant and have identical specifications.

The UM Renegade Sport S will be its flagship offering and it was unveiled at the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan. The UM Renegade Commando and its variant UM Renegade Sport S will be equipped with an electric starter. The front wheel has telescopic suspension while the rear wheel has dual shocks absorbers. The motorcycles will have a large fuel tank capacity of 18 litres and it tips the scales at 172 kg with 90 per cent fuel filled in fuel tank.

UM Motorcycles were present at the 2014 Auto Expo to gauge consumer feedback and it was the positive response from the Indian bike buyers that prompted it to make its foray in our country. The UM Motorcycles India production facility is based at Lohia Auto's Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand. The bikes will be assembled in India and UM Motorcycles also has plans to export the bikes to South East Asian markets.
