Yamaha has teased its new small sports car concept before its big unveil at the upcoming 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The car will most probably be a plug-in hybrid with a motorcycle engine.

Yamaha is a formidable name in the world of motorized transport. From scooters to commuter motorcycles to some of the fastest motorcycles in the world, there is something for everyone from the house with the triple-tuning fork logo. And now, the Japanese company is going to launch a new sportscar at the upcoming 2015 Tokyo Motor show.

As you’d expect from any teaser, there’s little to go by for now, but it seems like Yamaha’s new sports car will get a very sleek design element and a swooping roofline. In most probability, the car will be a plug-in hybrid or an electrically aided motor. The engine itself is said to be from one of Yamaha’s motorcycles and will feature a powerful electric motor and batteries

Further details about this upcoming car are scarce at the moment, and a cagey Yamaha is only going so far as to say that the "design concept is inspired by motorcycles and expresses the Unique Style of Yamaha." There's also a chance it's powered by a motorcycle engine given the "inspired by motorcycles" description.

In addition to this, Yamaha will also promote its entire fleet including a possible range of new electric scooters, a new off road multi-wheel recreational vehicle and of course, conventional two wheelers across the range at the Tokyo Motor Show. Stay tuned.
